Hannah started swimming at the age of 4 in the local pool in Spain. At the age of 9 she took on competitive swimming but it was not meant to be, after a particularly gruelling 'swim holiday' she decided that training was not for her. However despite this, last year she swam the Channel in a 2 girl relay with her sister Rebecca. On the after swim high they agreed to repeat the adventure, with a twist, and enroll some equally crazy individuals to share the fun. She is already dreading the first dip in May into the English Channel brrrrrrrrr, but the cause makes it all worthwhile!

Rebecca Tunstall
Rebecca started her swimming “career” at the local pool in Spain with her sister Hannah. As she grew up and travelled the world she got to swim in France, Belgium, Spain and America. She swam competitively but decided it was all too much when Hannah started overtaking her with ease in the pool! She got her own back by talking her sister into a successful Channel crossing last year. She loves getting her teeth into new adventures and is going to do her first Half Ironman as well as climb Mt Kilimanjaro later this year. She is really not looking forward to starting the cold swimming trips to Dover...can you imagine how cold the sea will be if it was still snowing in February!! She is sponsored by Tri Touch.

Mandy Johnson
Mandy loves an adventure and has spent the last few years travelling round the world having an amazing time. Since her return home she has tried out many different jobs and locations but has finally settled in London. She swam since an early age, competing regularly up till the age of 16. She successfully ran the London marathon last year but then unfortunately had a motorbiking accident and tore one of the ligaments in her knee. Two operations later and having talked both her sisters into taking part in this challenge with her she is now fighting fit and getting ready for the channel crossing!

Rebecca Johnson
Rebecca started swimming at the age of 3 and trained competitively from age 7-17. She competed in national relays and qualifed for nationals in 50m fly aged 16. She did an off road motor bike trip through South Africa at the end of 2008 with her sisters (Kirsty & Mandy). She loves trying new things but icy trips to Dover are a first!

Kirsty Johnson
Kirsty is a swimming teacher from Surrey who started swimming at the age of 5. After spending numerous lessons hiding underneath the benches she finally quit her crying when her younger sister Rebecca showed her how it’s done. She won gold at nationals as part of a relay team in 1997. Kirsty is always up for a challenge and finds herself taking part in some very strange activities. She can often be found on a course, on a bike, on a zip wire, on a holiday or on her blackberry. Kirsty also has a lifelong fear of seaweed and swimming in the sea, which could prove problematic for this particular challenge!

Tillie Wood
Tillie has been swimming since she was 2. She has swam at Royal Tunbridge Wells Monson Swimming Club for 9 years and has now moved to Crawley Swimming Club. Tillie swam in south east reional competitions when she was 10 and is training hard for the Sussex county competitions which are coming up in a few weeks time. She swims 7 times a week, before and after school, and regularly swims in competitions on the weekends. Despite all her swimming she still finds the time to play hockey and is currently in year 9 at Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar School and has just chosen her GCSE options. Tillie like most of us has no experience of open water swimming, apart from mucking around in the sea on holiday.

Carolyn Guildford
Carolyn started swimming lessons at the age of 7 in her local pool and decided she loved it so much that she then joined a triathlon club aged 9. Now almost 17 she competed at triathlon national relays in Nottingham and still trains with Thames Turbo Triathlon Club. She swims twice a week amoungst her other varius training sessions and is currently studying for her A levels at Esher college, so is having lots of fun "studying".
